The Wood River Fire Department is a combination department with 10 full-time firefighters and 14-17 Paid on Call firefighters. In addition to responding to fire calls, the Department is also trained in, and responds to, Emergency Medical Calls, Hazardous Materials Calls, Extrication, and High Angle Rope Rescue calls. In 2007, the Wood River Fire Department responded to 1,476 calls. The station is manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
